Working with Plico Design at Melbourne Zoo on the National Trust listed building on Elliot Avenue Parkville. The project comprised sensitive refurbishment to the heritage façade and internal ticket boots. Liaising with Heritage Victoria to provide a respectful change to allow the original ticket windows to have their original working function reinstated, whilst revising the windows to a frameless model and modifications to open the security screens. One window on each side of the entry have been preserved as a reminder of the original configuration.
While completing this project Bear also worked with Plico design to complete the new exhibit for the endangered Corroboree Frog. Children can observe the Zoo Keepers preparing the actual food that is provided to the animals. The children then ‘prepare’ food for the toy animals in the adjacent play space.
